WOLF
Asha started working in high school at a fast food place with one of her best friend and learned quickly that fulfilling work is less about the job and more about the people. The first woman in her family to graduate from college, she had no clue what to do with her film degree from Vanderbilt University. She picked up a remote gig captioning videos and saved up enough to take a leap of faith. Asha found an internship at a boutique creative agency, a job at an insurance call center that paid the bills, and made the move to Austin, TX.
From there, she joined the customer service team at a marketing company and worked overtime to help out on the video team, eventually being hired as a full time video producer. She started making creative work with friends and learned more about the entertainment business, getting on sets and attending workshops. When Asha saw a post looking for a writer’s assistant on one of her favorite shows, she applied.
Asha enjoys writing about scrappy misfits who overcome challenges through empathy and ingenuity. She got her start in entertainment at Wonderstorm working as a writer’s assistant for The Dragon Prince, an Emmy-winning Netflix Original. Play-testing and pitching for the video game, Xadia, was an exciting bonus. Her next adventure was writing heart-stopping, heartwarming superhero action for Marvel Animation.
Asha has also screened her work around the country. Her short film, “The Pastor’s Wife” most recently premiered at the 2025 Los Angeles International Shorts Film Festival. Her first experimental film, ”Fever” premiered at the 2018 Contrast Film Festival, streamed on Hyperreal TV and was featured by Co-Lab Projects. The second, “Wolf,” premiered at Babesfest 2019, an Austin festival supporting women and nonbinary artists. The narrative short, “Last Summer,” was a finalist for Best Texas Short at DBFF 2022 and her script “Imperfect Pepper” is an Official Selection for Coverfly’s 2023 Pitch Week. She’s currently developing her first feature film, which is in the top 18% of projects on Coverfly.
